While much of the city is likely focusing on the runways popping up at the Melbourne Fashion Festival, New Balance and Kic are opening a different kind of runway.
From March 2-5, New Balance and Kic will be hosting a free morning run club, starting at 6:45am every day. The club’s route starts and ends at Fitzroy’s Archie’s all Day Cafe, weaving through Carlton Gardens along the way.
Each morning while the run club is active, participants embark on either a 3 or 5 kilometre run, which will be followed by a complimentary coffee and breakfast at Archie’s. All fitness levels are welcome, with two different pace groups involved.
There will be opportunities to road test New Balance’s triple-pink FuelCell Rebel V4 shoe during the run. It’s a pace-pushing trainer made for those faster efforts when you want to feel like you’re gliding.
“The pressure to look a certain way is amplified at this time of year. These inclusive running events are here for anyone who needs to take a break from comparison,” said Kic co-founder Laura Henshaw, on the purpose of the run club. “I used to run because I hated my body, but now I run to look after it – a mindset flip that is undeniably freeing.”
It’s worth noting that freebies are capped daily, so it’s best to get there early.
